About UCM Student Chapter

UCM is a chapter of the Missouri Association for the Education of Young Children, which is a state affiliate for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. During our inaugural year (2020-2021), this growing group of early childhood education majors from the UCM College of Education, amidst a pandemic, have shown perseverance and problem-solving to initiate and build their organization. This year's officers are:

·      Samantha Frank, President & MOAEYC At-Large Rep

·       Breeana Rooks, Vice President
·       Eleanor Van Kirk, Vice President
·       Peyton Campbell, Secretary
·       MacKenzie Strodtman, Social Media Chair
·       Katlyn Bolak, Freshman Block Rep
·       Kristen de Napoli, Parliamentarian
·       Crystal Gutierrez, Policy and Advocacy
·       Dr. Karrie Snider & Dr. Natalie Tye, Co-Faculty Sponsors

During the COVID-19 pandemic, early childhood educators were recognized as essential workers. Those of us who have dedicated our career-long service to the early education profession understand that children’s educators have always been essential.

2020-2021 Activities

Our organization members have been preparing service projects for local Warrensburg elementary schools. They have selected children’s books to record read-alouds and will be donating books and props to Maple Grove Elementary children and teachers. In addition, they are working on a service project for a local early childhood education and care center.

YPAC CHAPTER INFO

The Young Professionals (YPAC) Chapter of MOAEYC, formed in January of 2020, will serve the states campus based early childhood clubs by allowing each local group to add their campus name as a part of the YPAC Chapter.  Each campus will plan their own activities and events, while joining with other ECE students and professionals across the state in opportunities for trainings, social interactions, collaboration and MORE!  Check back often for updates.

The MOAEYC Board has established the guidelines (PDF) for any early childhood education college group to become established and affiliated with the state and YPAC Chapter if they desire. Please check back for additional resources in the near future.

The University of Central Missouri ECE program has established a UCM Student Chapter of MOAEYC, and their activities are highlighted on this UCM Chapter web-page.  Currently they are the only active student chapter in MO.
